Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Rubus and rubuschart.com collect, why, and what you can do about it. The controller is Rubuschart LLP (“we”, “us”), reachable at support@rubuschart.com. The short version: your numbers and charts never leave your document.

What stays on your computer

The data you paste or type into Rubus, and the charts it draws, stay in your PowerPoint or Excel file. Rubus runs inside Office and does not send your data, your charts or your documents to us or to anyone else. Your language and a few display choices are kept in your browser's local storage on your own computer.

What the add-in sends to us

Rubus loads its code from app.rubuschart.com each time it opens. Beyond that, it talks to our licence server only to:

  • Record your trial. On first open, Rubus sends a random install id (not linked to your name or files) and the date, so the seven-day trial can be counted.
  • Count daily use. Once a day, when Rubus opens, it sends only the random install id. We store it hashed, so all it gives us is how many installs opened Rubus that day. Kept for 400 days; no chart data, name or address.
  • Check a licence. When you enter a licence key, and from time to time afterwards, Rubus sends the key and a random device id, so the licence can be confirmed and the number of devices counted.
  • Send a report, if you choose to. When you press Send in "Send a report" or "Report a problem", Rubus sends what failed, which Rubus and Office you use, and the note you type. A screenshot of the pane, which shows your chart and its numbers, is sent only if you add one to that report.
  • Send failure counts, if you turn them on. Once a day: how many charts went in and how many failed, by chart type and Office app. Never your data. This is off unless you switch it on in Account.

If an AI assistant draws with Rubus

If you connect an AI assistant to Rubus's AI address (rubus-mcp.ekuljanov.workers.dev), the assistant sends our server the kind of chart, the numbers and the words it should draw. We draw the chart and keep it, with those numbers, for 30 days under a random link that only you and the assistant receive, so its SVG and PNG downloads keep working. Nothing else is stored: no account, no name, no key. The assistant's own provider handles your conversation under its own terms. A Rubus block that an assistant writes into your sheet or slide is drawn by the add-in on your computer and is not sent to us.

What we get when you buy

Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, runs the checkout and handles your payment details — we never see your card number. Paddle shares with us what we need to issue and support your licence: your email address, name if given, country, order number and what you bought. We keep your email, licence key, expiry date and the device ids activated on it. Paddle's own handling of your data is described in the Paddle privacy notice.

What the website collects

rubuschart.com uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used: which sections people read, how far they scroll, what they click (such as the download buttons), and general device and browser information. Clarity sets cookies and masks text you type. Microsoft processes this data under the Microsoft privacy statement. The site also loads the Google tag for Google Ads, which sets cookies to measure whether our ads lead to visits and downloads; Google processes this data under the Google privacy policy, and you can turn off ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes IP addresses in its logs to deliver the site securely.

If you write to us

If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you and remember what was asked.

Why we use it

  • To provide the trial and your licence, and to answer support requests — to perform our contract with you.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse of trials and licences, and improve the site — our legitimate interests.
  • To meet tax and accounting duties — legal obligation (Paddle keeps the invoice records).

We don't sell personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who else handles it

Paddle (payments and invoicing), Cloudflare (hosting and the licence server), Microsoft (Clarity analytics) and our email provider. Some of them process data outside your country, including in the United States, under safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Trial install ids: up to two years.
  • Licence records: while the licence is active, and up to two years after it ends, so a renewal or support question can be answered.
  • Support emails: up to two years after the last message.
  • Clarity data: as set by Microsoft Clarity, currently up to 13 months.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to see, correct, delete or export the personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email support@rubuschart.com and we will answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. You can block Clarity's cookies in your browser without affecting the add-in.

Children

Rubus is made for work and is not intended for children under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top, and email licence holders about any significant change.
